My client operates a legal document delivery business and was facing significant challenges with route planning. While using ServeManager, a software designed for his line of work, he encountered limitations, particularly in mapping his delivery routes. The software’s default setting always began the route from his home and did not offer customization options. His workaround involved manually entering up to 30 addresses into Google Maps, a time-consuming task that only allowed for 10 addresses at a time.
My breakthrough came when I discovered Google Maps’ lesser-known feature – the ability to upload a spreadsheet or connect a Google Sheet with a list of addresses, enabling the mapping of numerous locations simultaneously. This feature also allowed for the creation of a fully customizable route by simply clicking on the desired locations in the preferred order. Additionally, I could generate a printable list of addresses in the sequence of the planned route.
To elevate this solution, I employed Zapier to automate the updating of the Google Sheet with new job addresses or completed jobs. This integration meant my client could effortlessly open the map, connect the sheet, and begin route planning with a few clicks, eliminating the need for manual typing.
This innovation transformed what was initially an hour-long process into a swift, less-than-five-minute task. My client could now efficiently plan customized routes, saving valuable time and enhancing productivity in his daily operations.
